Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 based on qualifications and experience

The Team
This role with sit within the Technical Sales Team and is responsible for providing specialist roof assessment and reporting services to support Axter’s refurbishment and new-build projects across the UK.
They conduct in-depth roof condition surveys, operate 3D scanning technology, and deliver detailed technical reports to support clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders. They ensure that refurbishment and new-build roofing projects are assessed and planned with precision, meeting regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Working closely with the Technical Sales Team and Design Team, Axter surveyors play a crucial role in providing accurate, data-driven recommendations to help shape project specifications, refurbishment strategies, and guarantee compliance with Axter’s system warranties.
The Role
The Technical Roof Surveyor is responsible for conducting detailed roof surveys and assessments across refurbishment and new-build flat roofing projects. The role involves:
- Conducting roof condition surveys, including taking core samples and measurements to assess existing waterproofing, insulation, and structural conditions.
- Utilising 3D scanning technology to create accurate roof models for use in project planning and design.
- Producing comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations for refurbishment or repair.
- Engaging with contractors and clients, providing technical expertise and support.
- Travelling across the South of England (with occasional projects further afield) to conduct surveys on-site.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
- Roof Surveys & Assessments: Conduct thorough site visits to inspect roof conditions, assessing waterproofing, drainage, insulation, and substrate integrity.
- Core Sampling & Measurements: Take core samples to determine existing build-up, material condition, and suitability for refurbishment.
- 3D Scanning & Digital Mapping: Operate advanced scanning technology to produce detailed roof models for accurate design and planning.
- Technical Reporting: Produce clear, detailed reports outlining survey findings, condition assessments, and recommendations.
- Contractor & Client Interaction: Liaise with site teams, providing technical guidance and support to contractors, clients, and internal teams.
- Project Documentation & CRM Management: Maintain detailed project records in the company’s CRM system, ensuring visibility and accountability.
- Regulatory Compliance & Best Practice: Ensure all surveys and assessments align with British Standards, building regulations, and Axter’s system requirements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Technical Sales Team, Design Team, and Quality Assurance Team to support seamless project progression
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in flat roofing surveys or inspections, ideally within the refurbishment sector.
- Strong understanding of roofing materials, waterproofing systems, and insulation types.
- Technical proficiency in site surveying, core sampling, and measurement techniques.
- Strong written communication skills to produce high-quality reports.
- Full UK driving licence (as extensive travel is required).
Desirable:
- Experience using 3D scanning technology for site assessments.
- Knowledge of building regulations and industry standards (e.g., BS 6229, BS 5250, NHBC guidelines, Part L & B compliance).
- Experience with CRM systems and digital project documentation.
- Institute of Roofing (IoR) Associate Level accreditation or CIOB.
