Technical Sales Manager - London / Essex / Hertfordshire

Join our Technical Sales Team and help us release the full potential of flat roofs.

We’re looking for a full-time Technical Sales Manager to join our highly motivated and successful technical sales team.

Position: Full-time, permanent

Hours of work: 37.5 hours / week

Place of work: Designated home worker based anywhere in the London / Essex / Hertfordshire region

Travel: Frequent travel within the region, plus attendance at Axter’s office in Ipswich when required

Probation period: Six months

Salary: Competitive salary based on experience + commission + company car

The Team

The field-based technical sales team is responsible for the development and implementation of sales strategies in the sales territories across the UK. They will identify and develop new business opportunities, provide technical advice and support to customers, and help grow revenues and profits.

Axter Technical Sales Managers are waterproofing design specialists; in their role they are assigned to a project from early design stage / roof survey through to project completion, and, working in close collaboration with other teams within the company, deliver a comprehensively designed, robust and guaranteed installation.

The Role

The Technical Sales Manager is responsible for meeting and exceeding the sales and profitability targets within the region. By developing sales strategies and detailed plans, and by evaluating customer needs and providing technical expertise to our customer base, the Technical Sales Manager will drive new business sales whilst managing individual project demands and meeting customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities and Outcomes

Service:

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand the customer base in the designated area and ensure a strong presence to enable sales and profitability targets to be met.
  • Prepare sales forecasts to meet profitability targets as laid out in the strategic plan.
  • Monitor and report sales activity and performance against sales targets with an emphasis on delivering profitability and agreed KPIs.
  • Partner effectively with customers and understand their needs to secure strong relationships and future sales.
  • Provide technical support and advice to customers to ensure customers are satisfied and understand our systems
  • Continually develop knowledge of our systems and services to ensure customer requirements are accurately met.
  • Research new markets and identify potential customers to increase new business opportunities and revenue.
  • Actively participate in trade shows and exhibitions to target customers in line with the strategic plan and ensure sales opportunities are maximised.
  • Share feedback on product, customer, competitor and market activities internally to support the continuous improvement of our performance.

  • Plan, organise and manage your own time effectively to ensure all tasks are achieved to deadline to the highest quality and optimum efficiency for the team.
  • Monitor your own performance against your objectives and learning and development plan, taking action to meet these to ensure continued improvement in performance and individual progression.
  • Identify and maximise new opportunities for self-development incorporating these into your learning and development journey as appropriate to support continued development and progression.
  • Develop and maintain professional and positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers and external representatives, working in partnership to achieve a high-quality service to optimise Company performance.
  • Work effectively with all Axter colleagues and managers to ensure industry-leading operating standards are achieved.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Behaviours

  • BSc level education, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced technical sales role
  • Experience working in the flat roofing industry (desirable)
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Good understanding of the sales cycle
  • Experience of working with CRM systems and other related software
  • Basic Microsoft Office 365 skills – Outlook, Excel, Word; Teams; SharePoint
  • Valid licence to drive in the UK
