Let’s look at four recent projects completed by our accredited installers using Axter’s renowned waterproofing systems.
The King’s Head Pub, Little Marlow
Axter accredited installer: Henleys Roofing
Axter roofing system in use: Ecoflex Single Ply Membrane
The King’s Head pub in Little Marlow was in dire need of a roof renewal due to its deteriorating condition. The timber decking was rotting, and water ingress had caused widespread damage.
Axter worked with accredited installer Henleys Roofing to refurbish and modernise the roof, transforming it into a waterproof, visually appealing structure.
Axter’s Ecoflex single ply membrane was selected as the ideal solution for this refurbishment. Ecoflex is a PVC synthetic membrane that is lightweight, quick to install, and has flame-free application.
By incorporating standing seam profiles, the system can replicate the appearance of a metal roof, delivering a modern and stylish look.

The Octagon Building, Birmingham
Axter accredited installer: McMullen Facades Limited
Roofing system in use: Wilotekt-Plus® hot melt waterproofing system
The Octagon is the world’s first purely octagonal high-rise residential building, adding a distinctive new shape to Birmingham’s skyline. Rising to a height of 155 metres, the tower will be Birmingham’s tallest building, offering residents stunning, panoramic views of the cityscape and beyond.
For this landmark project, Axter provided the Wilotekt-Plus hot melt waterproofing system, installed by accredited installers McMullen Facades Limited.
The Wilotekt®-Plus system brings over two decades of trusted performance with a 35-year guarantee. The simplicity, robustness, and longevity of Wilotekt® Plus have made it a preferred choice among contractors, installers, and clients alike.

Voco Zeal Exeter Science Park
Axter accredited installer: Roofworx
Axter roofing system in use: Wilotekt-Plus® hot melt waterproofing system
The voco Zeal Exeter Science Park is an innovative hotel project that sets new standards for sustainability in the hospitality industry. The 142-bedroom hotel is designed with half the embodied carbon of a typical hotel, and it will generate 100% of its electricity through photovoltaic roof and wall panels.
Axter worked alongside accredited installer Roofworx to install our Wilotekt®-Plus hot melt system, chosen for its durability and ability to support the substantial plant equipment required for the hotel’s systems, including air handling units, heat pumps, and solar PV panels. The roofing system was designed to support the weight of these installations, with penetrations carefully sealed to maintain the roof's integrity. The concrete deck was selected to accommodate the hot melt system, which allowed for faster installation and reduced project costs.
The project serves as a prime example of how Axter’s innovative roofing solutions contribute to environmentally responsible, high-performance architecture.
Abbots Avenue West
Axter accredited installer: HTR Building Services Ltd
Axter roofing system in use: Excel® waterproofing system
The refurbishment of Abbots Avenue West in St Albans was a complex project due to major roofing issues and the need to operate in a live residential environment. A thorough roof survey revealed severe waterproofing failures, water saturation, and thermal inefficiencies, requiring urgent remediation.
HTR Building Services Ltd, as the accredited installer, carried out the project by stripping the existing roof and installing Axter’s Excel® reinforced bituminous membrane system with tapered PIR insulation. Despite unexpected weather challenges, meticulous planning minimised disruption to residents and enabled early completion.
Robust safety measures reduced dust, noise, and waste, ensuring a smooth process. Through successful collaboration between Axter, HTR Building Services Ltd, St Albans Council, and Morgan Sindall (the client), the project delivered a high-quality, durable roofing solution.
