Chloe Davis is Technical Sales Manager for South West England and South Wales, where no two days are the same. Her role spans everything from site visits and technical design support to delivering Continuing Professional Development (CPD) presentations and building long-term contractor partnerships. It is a dynamic position – and one she thrives in, thanks to a supportive team, a culture of trust, and the freedom to grow.
As part of Axter’s national technical sales team, Chloe plays a key role in developing relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and providing expert advice to ensure high-quality roofing outcomes. It is a blend of technical knowledge and people skills – and it is where she has found her stride.
We spoke with Chloe about her journey, what makes Axter different, and why roofing is a career more people should be talking about.
A strong foundation in communication
A graduate of Cardiff University, Chloe holds a degree in Spanish and English Language, a foundation that has helped her develop exceptional communication and relationship-building skills – crucial assets in her role.
“My role’s all about relationships,” Chloe says. “I work with contractors, developers, and architects across South West England and South Wales, supporting them throughout the life of a roofing project – from design to installation. Every day is different. I’m on site, I’m in the office, I’m working with our design team… and I love it.”
It is clear Chloe thrives on the variety and pace of her work. But what really sets Axter apart, she says, is the level of trust and autonomy she is given.
“You’re trusted to manage your time, your clients, and your territory, but there’s support when you need it. That makes a huge difference.”
From trainee to Technical Sales Manager
Chloe’s journey at Axter is a testament to both her dedication and the company’s commitment to nurturing talent. She began as a trainee, bringing a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a determination to learn.
“I didn’t come from a technical background,” she shares. “But from day one, I was given the resources and support I needed. I had time to learn, the freedom to develop, and received mentorship from experienced leaders who were genuinely invested in my success.”
This solid foundation enabled Chloe to rapidly build her expertise. She transitioned into a full sales role, eventually managing her own area and client base with confidence and proficiency.
“The progression felt organic – it happened because Axter believed in my potential and provided me with the necessary tools to succeed. The company’s genuine investment in its people is a rare and valuable quality that I’ve come to truly appreciate.”

Passion for the product
Chloe speaks with enthusiasm about Axter’s product range. “Our portfolio is diverse, and the variety of systems we offer allows us to tailor the best solution for each project, rather than trying to fit every need into one product. That flexibility is something you don’t often see.
Committed to learning and leading
As part of her development, Chloe is currently working towards her Certificate in Construction Products Sales, with full support from Axter. “They’re really invested in my progress,” she explains. “The training’s been a great way to strengthen my technical knowledge, and it helps me bring even more value to the people I work with.”
She also delivers CPD presentations to architects – a key part of helping design professionals stay informed and inspired.
“CPDs are a brilliant way to have in-depth conversations about materials, compliance, design… it’s about adding value and sharing knowledge.”

A B Corp with a bigger purpose
Chloe is also proud to work for a certified B Corporation – a business committed to doing better by people and the planet.
“It says a lot about Axter’s values. It’s not just about profit – it’s about doing business the right way. Whether that’s sustainability, employee wellbeing, or community impact, we’re always looking at the bigger picture.”
She adds, “You can feel it in the culture. People care here – about their work, their colleagues, and the world beyond the business.”
Axter was certified by B Lab UK, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp movement, as having met rigorous social and environmental standards: click here to read about our B Corp journey.
Future trends: Why retrofit is key
Looking ahead, Chloe sees retrofit as a major growth area – and a huge opportunity for innovation in roofing.
“Retrofit is massive right now,” she says. “There’s so much existing building stock in the UK that needs upgrading – whether it’s thermal performance, compliance, or making buildings fit for the future. Roofing plays a central role in that.”
She explains how Axter is well positioned to support this shift. “Our systems are not just new-build focused. We have solutions designed specifically for refurbishment – from inverted roofs to overlay systems – and we’ve got the technical know-how to help clients navigate complex projects. It’s an exciting time to be in this space.”
Sam Heard, Divisional Manager for Distribution and Refurbishment, shares further insights on the role roof refurbishment is playing in the UK’s transition to a Net Zero society, and how technology is unlocking untapped opportunities to maximise roof performance: click here to read the interview.
The Axter culture: Friendly, flexible, focused
When asked what makes Axter a great place to work, Chloe doesn’t hesitate: “It’s the people. Everyone’s got your back. There’s a real team spirit — whether you’re out in the field or back in the office.”
She praises the leadership team for creating an open, flexible environment where everyone is encouraged to develop.
“There’s room to grow here. If you show initiative and you’re passionate about what you do, you’ll be supported every step of the way.”

Thinking about a career in roofing?
“Don’t be put off by what you think roofing is,” Chloe says. “It’s not just physical labour or being up on a roof – it’s a broad, fast-moving industry with loads of potential.”
“My advice? Get stuck in. Ask questions. Be open to learning. It’s an industry that rewards curiosity and problem-solving, and there’s always something new around the corner. If you’re driven, you’ll thrive.”
